The Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) and partners across the social care and health sectors in Scotland launched a new strategy aimed at developing leadership in the social services workforce.

The strategy sets out what will happen over the next two years to develop leadership capability at all levels of the social services workforce. It aims to improve outcomes for all people who use social services in Scotland, their carers and their families.

Professor James McGoldrick, convener of the SSSC, said at the launch in Edinburgh: "It is about unleashing the leadership potential of all people who have a connection with caring, more than it is about those we traditionally think of as leaders.

"Everybody has valuable skills and experience that they can bring to bear on improving how care services are delivered in Scotland."
