FILM director Woody Allen has broken his silence to deny he molested adoptive daughter Dylan Farrow in an open letter published online by The New York Times.

He said Farrow's own letter alleging abuse, published last week, includes "creative flourishes that seem to have magically appeared during our 21-year estrangement".

When their relationship broke up more than two decades ago, Mia Farrow accused Allen, now 78, of molesting Dylan.

Allen, who has always denied the claims, wrote in his letter: "Of course I did not molest Dylan."
