A new film designed to help professionals working with parents spot signs that they were sexually abused as children is to be launched at Edinburgh University next week.

The 30-minute film Tell Tale Signs - Parent Survivors of Childhood Sexual Abuse has been directed and produced by abuse expert Sue Hampson, co-author of the Scottish Government's guide to working with abuse survivors Yes You Can, and independent film-maker Sitar Rose.

It features the stories of five parent survivors who share their experiences of childhood sex abuse and its effects, and how it shapes their experiences as parents and partners, as well as exploring challenges they faced in disclosing their past to professionals. The film also looks at how such experiences affect an individual's parenting techniques.

The film will be premiered on February 19, with an introduction by Edinburgh University lecturer in psychotherapy Siobhan Canavan and freelance journalist and novelist Catherine Deveney.
