FORMER Scotland and British Lions captain Gavin Hastings is to present the BBC Radio 4 Appeal for The Cure Parkinson's Trust.

In the appeal, Gavin describes how his wife Diane has coped with Parkinson's disease since she was diagnosed 10 years ago, aged 39.

He said: "You hope that in your lifetime, there will be a cure for Parkinson's.

"I am delighted to present this appeal to highlight the innovative work The Cure Parkinson's Trust is undertaking."

The Cure Parkinson's Trust, based in Hertfordshire, is funding research initiatives with a particular interest in projects that slow, halt or reverse Parkinson's.

The appeal will be broadcast on February 23 at 7.55am and 9.26pm, then on February 27 at 15.27.
