Heavy snowfall has affected driving conditions on several roads across Scotland tonight.
Weather warnings are in place for much of the country, with Traffic Scotland describing driving conditions in Dumfries and Galloway as "extremely hazardous".
Snow is also affecting Tayside, the Lothians, Grampian and the Highlands.
Snow gates have been closed at Braemar, Spittal of Glenshee and Cockbridge - Tomintoul.
The Scottish Government Resilience Committee (SGoRR) met earlier today to assess preparedness for the weekend ahead.
Transport Scotland will monitor and treat roads in areas affected by the adverse weather, with more than100 hundred gritters out this evening.
Transport Minister Keith Brown said: "The strong winds and snow could lead to some issues with visibility on higher ground and we would urge drivers to leave plenty of space to the car in front and to drive to the conditions.
"Keeping up to date with the latest information is crucial and we would advise people to prepare in advance for any travel, to, adhere to police advice and allow extra time for any journeys they are planning to make. Anyone making a journey should check relevant websites such as Traffic Scotland for up to date travel information."
