MEMBERS of a heritage organisation dedicated to preserving Moray's past have rediscovered an ancient well, said to bestow magical powers on people who drink from it.
Burghead Headland Trust found St Aethan's Well after the spot was apparently lost for 50 years. The location in Burghead was a mystery until Burghead Headland Trust treasurer Hilary Gloyer found a village map from 1902. During excavation, Mrs Gloyer and other local people uncovered medieval pottery as well as pieces of ironwork.
