HILLWALKERS, skiers and climbers have been urged to take heed of avalanche warnings over the weekend.
The warning from the Scottish Government came as two walkers who went missing near the summit of Ben Nevis were found safe and well. A search was launched on Friday after the pair became disorientated in poor weather.
Heavy snow affected much of Scotland yesterday. Snowgates were shut on the Braemar to Spittal of Glenshee road and the Cockbridge to Tomintoul route.
The A827 in Perth and Kinross was closed by snow.
The Met Office has issued yellow "be aware" warnings for ice across the Highlands, Grampian, the central belt and the Borders today.
Snow showers are predicted across mountain ranges today and tomorrow.
SNP Minister Shona Robison urged the public to be careful in Scotland's hills and mountains. A heavy build-up of snow has led to a high avalanche risk in popular areas for much of this winter.
