A man has been rescued by firefighters after his hip popped out of its socket and left him stuck while he worked on scaffolding.

Emergency services were called to the scene in Dudley Gardens, Edinburgh, at around 9am today.

Fire crews used a hydraulic platform to bring the man to safety from the second floor level scaffolding.

He was then passed to ambulance staff and it is thought he was taken to hospital.

It is understood the man, who is aged in his 50s, had a hip replacement operation a few weeks ago.
