A MOTHER and daughter are to stand trial accused of perverting the course of justice by attempting to swap speeding points.

Kerry Bell was caught speeding at 45mph in a 30mph zone in north-east Fife in May last year.

But prosecutors say when she was asked to identify the driver of the car she said it was her mother, Alison.

It is alleged Alison Bell then told police she had been driving the car in a bid to take the speeding points and "to prevent Kerry Bell being detected and prosecuted".

Cupar Sheriff Court heard Kerry Bell, 32, of Lower Largo, Fife, was willing to plead guilty to the speeding charge - and two offences committed two months later at the same spot.

Alison Bell, 52, of Kennoway, Fife, denies the charge.
