A WOMAN has been detained by police investigating the attempted murder of a taxi driver.

The 59-year-old man was seriously hurt in an incident in Appin Crescent, Dunfermline, in the early hours of yesterday. Police said they were treating it as attempted murder and they had detained a 46-year-old woman in connection with the inquiry.

Detective Inspector John Anderson, of Police Scotland Fife Division, said: "The local community will see a high-visibility police presence in the area as we conduct this investigation, and we appreciate their patience and cooperation.

"We have no information to suggest there is any threat to the wider community."
