Police are dealing with a stand-off with a man who has barricaded himself inside a house.
Officers were called to the scene in Syme Road in Lochside, Dumfries, at around 6pm last night.
Trained police negotiators have been brought in to talk to the man, who is alone in the building.
The area surrounding the house has been cordoned off.
Police Scotland said this has been done to ensure a safe working environment for those involved in the operation and to ensure that there is no risk to the public.
