A CRIME boss has abandoned a bid to stop prosecutors selling his luxury home to pay off his ill-gotten gains.

Prosecutors wanted an administrator appointed to offload Jamie Stevenson's four bedroom villa after becoming exasperated at the 48-year-old's failure to sell it.

The gangster, known as 'Iceman', put the property in East Kilbride, South Lanarkshire, on the market after being ordered to hand over almost £750,000 under Proceeds of Crime laws.

He owes £136,755 from a £747,080 confiscation order.

Yesterday's Proceeds of Crime hearing at Airdrie Sheriff Court heard Stevenson had now agreed to hand over control of the sale.

Sheriff Morag Galbraith agreed to continue the case until May to allow the administrator to be appointed and excused Stevenson from appearing at the hearing.

Stevenson was jailed in 2007 for laundering £1 million but walked free after serving just over seven years of his 12 years and nine months sentence.
