A BANKER has been told she faces a "significant" prison sentence after she admitted stealing almost £220,000 from customers.
Julie Fraser was a customer relationship manager at a Bank of Scotland branch in Kirkcaldy's Carberry Road. But she had repeatedly dipped into customers' accounts and transferred money to herself.
Her fraud - which totalled £218,314.93 - was uncovered when a monitoring system revealed an internal transfer of £5000 from a customer account to another in October 2012.
Fraser told fraud investigators she had done it as the customer "wasn't good with finances so wouldn't notice the money was missing".
A further probe uncovered a total of 26 transactions taking cash from customers.
Fraser pled guilty on indictment to a charge of embezzlement.
Sheriff Charles Macnair QC told Fraser she faced a "significant" prison sentence. He deferred sentence until next month for a criminal justice social work report to be filed.
