Have you heard the one about the comedian trying to win a place in the Guinness Book of Records?

Regulars at a popular Glasgow bar can expect to be in stitches for 60 minutes tonight as the pub's resident comedian attempts to book his place in the record books.

But Donald Macleod, from Lewis, will have the last laugh if he beats Australian Michael Lehman's record for telling the most jokes in one hour - 549 set in May 2005 at a pub in Adelaide.

To succeed, Mr Macleod will have to execute 10 jokes a minute.

The comedian, author of the Awful Joke Book, is also using the occasion to raise money for charities in the Western Isles.

The Bethesda Care Home & Hospice in Stornoway, Harris House in Tarbert, Tagsa Uibhist in Benbecula and Cobhair Bharraigh in Castlebay will benefit from his record bid.

Mr Macleod has previously raised more than £100,000 for the organisations.

All are welcome to enjoy the fun at the Park Bar in Argyle Street from 8.30pm.
