Police have named a man who died after a fire broke out in the kitchen of his home.

Lee Dobson, 40, was discovered by a rescue crew at his house in Broomrig Court in Lincluden, Dumfries, yesterday.

The firefighters responded to a smoke alarm activation shortly after midnight and extinguished a small fire in the kitchen.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: "He was taken to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary by ambulance but sadly it was later confirmed that he had died."

Police say the death is being treated as unexplained until the results of a post-mortem examination are known but there do not appear to be any suspicious circumstances.

Detective Constable Gary Story said: "We are keen to trace the final movements of Mr Dobson in the hours leading up to the point he was found in his home.

"If you were in the area during the evening of Monday March 3 or have any information which might help us piece together his final movements please contact police on 101."
