TWO walkers have been rescued after being stranded on a mountain overnight when they were caught out by conditions.
A Royal Navy helicopter was scrambled to the summit of Buachaille Etive Mor in Glen Coe on Tuesday after the men, said to have been well-equipped, raised the alarm. One had injured his leg and both were mildly hypothermic after their ordeal.
The helicopter battled 60mph winds and had to abort an initial attempt to reach the walkers. Lieutenant Commander Martin Lanni, aircraft commander and one of the pilots, said: "Our observer [navigator] Lieutenant Commander Rob Suckling battled his way across to the walkers - at one point he had to sit down on the snow for fear he was going to be blown over on the exposed ridge."
