THE red carpet at this year's Glasgow International Comedy Festival will be turning green, thanks to the Scottish premiere of the latest Muppets movie.

Disney's Muppets Most Wanted, starring Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy alongside Ricky Gervais and Tina Fey, will be shown at a gala screening at the festival, now in its 12th year.

The festival is offering 105,000 tickets for 416 shows at 46 venues.

The Muppets movie will be shown on March 21 at Cineworld in Glasgow city centre, one week before its UK release.

Tickets for the screening will be free and available through the festival website. The festival, one of the biggest of its kind in Europe, runs from Friday until April 5.

Muppets Most Wanted takes the gang on a global tour, selling out theatres in Europe's capitals, including Berlin, Madrid and London.

Tommy Sheppard, director of the Scottish Comedy Agency which organises the festival, said: "With confirmation of this exclusive screening, the comedy festival is putting the laughter into Scotland's big year."
