Dr Who actor Peter Capaldi is set to make a profit that's out of this world by selling his home in London.

The Scots-born Time Lord and his wife, Elaine Collins, bought the four-bed property in the north of the English capital for just £167,000 in the 1990s.

But the terraced home has just gone on the market for £1,275,000 - handing the couple with a potential profit of more than £1 million.

The property contains a collection of movie posters in the kitchen, a nod to the 56-year-old's owner's Oscar success in 1995 when he bought the house.

There's also a portrait of Capaldi as Malcolm Tucker, the foul-mouthed spin doctor in the hit TV comedy "The Thick of It".

But, like the Tardis, the Victorian house offers more on the inside than it does on the outside.

There's a stylish dining room, which is complete with original fireplace and French doors that lead out onto the compact garden area.

At the bottom of the lawn lies a hut.

It is described by the estate agents selling the property as a studio.

The blurb adds:"A beautiful and stylish home offering character and unique features, combining modern with period detail and a studio."
