NEW pictures by Billy Connolly are to be displayed in an exhibition at a Glasgow gallery later this week.

The drawings by the comedian and actor will be on show at the city's Castle Galleries from Friday.

He said: "I am flattered that my pictures are being exhibited at Castle Galleries.

"My drawings bear no relation to comedy or music and are just big personal doodles, but I'm delighted to share them with the aesthetically astute people of Glasgow."

There will be around 40 pieces, 12 of which are new, in Connolly's spare, black and white, style.

They will be on display until Monday 31st March.

Billy Couper, director of the gallery, added: "This will be our third consecutive year displaying Billy's works however, having never been seen before, this time round it feels much more special - it's a huge coup for the gallery"

Connolly began producing his art in 2012, and he draws faceless figures and animals.
