MINISTERS will today be urged to set out a clear timetable for tackling air pollution.

In a debate at Holyrood, Labour MSPs are expected call on the SNP Government to work more closely with councils to ensure a boost in air quality. Labour also want the SNP to use planning guidance and transport policy to help meet emissions targets.

The Government said there had been "excellent progress" in improving air quality but recognised work was still needed.

Labour environment spokeswoman Claire Baker said, after seven years in power, the SNP was still "continually missing" environmental targets.
