STARS of Gregory's Girl are to attend a special final screening of the film, at the school in which it was filmed, before a wrecking ball brings the building crashing to the ground.

Clare Grogan, who played Susan, Rab Buchanan and Dave Anderson who played Gregory's father, are to join members of the community in Abronhill High School, Cumbernauld, for the showing of Bill Forsyth's Bafta-winning movie.

Although the exact date of the screening is still to be set, it is expected to take place during the Easter break next month, making it one of the last events at Abronhill High before its famous blue doors close one last time and its pupils are transferred to Cumbernauld High.

The exterior shots of the 1981 coming-of-age film Gregory's Girl were filmed in the grounds of Abronhill High.

Councillors at North Lanarkshire Council took the decision in February last year to close the school at the end of the 2014 academic term.
