A CARE home has been told it must improve the standard of care offered to its residents after receiving two damning reports within five months.
The Care Inspectorate said it remained concerned over the health and wellbeing of residents at Galashiels Nursing Home in the Borders, and told operators it must make immediate improvements in five areas. They include concerns over nutrition, the health and safety of service-users, medication and staffing.
The watchdog said that some progress had been made since its inspection last September, but classed three of four areas as "weak" following a January investigation, the results of which were made public yesterday.
A spokesman for the Care Inspectorate said: "A previous inspection of this service in September last year identified serious concerns. Despite seeing areas of improvement we remain concerned about the health and wellbeing of residents following this most recent inspection. We are working closely with this service to ensure it improves the quality of care being provided."
Charles Ingram, director of Pryce and Co Ltd, which owns the home, said: "It wasn't nice to be classed as weak. We've done a hell of a lot of work to get our grades back up."
