A NEW search for a boat that sank, claiming the lives of four anglers on a loch five years ago begins today.

It is hoped finding the boat will solve the mystery of the tragedy on Loch Awe in 2009, in which William Carty, 47, his brother Steven, 42, Thomas Douglas, 36, and Craig Currie, 30, all died.

The search has been made possible by the donation of 3D radar equipment to volunteer rescue group Lochwatch, which was set up after the tragedy.

Victims' families are to visit the loch on March 21, the tragedy's fifth anniversary, and meet the rescuers.
