A court in Pakistan has reduced the jail term handed down to a Pakistani doctor who helped the US find al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden.
Shakil Afridi was arrested after Navy Seals killed bin Laden in May 2011 in a raid that outraged Pakistan. Afridi was arrested and sentenced him to 33 years in jail for being a member of a militant group, a charge he denies.
Yesterday, a court in Peshawar reduced his sentence to 23 years after calls for his release. His lawyer said they would continue to challenge the jail sentence.
