THE family of a man who died after he was struck by three cars while walking along a motorway have paid tribute to a "much loved son and brother".

Paul McDermott, 28, was hit by an Audi A3, a Vauxhall Vectra and a Volkswagen Scirocco at around 5.05am on Saturday.

He died at the scene on the M73 near Gartcosh in North Lanarkshire.

The drivers of the vehicles were left badly shaken as a result of the accident.

In a statement released through police his family said: "Paul was a much loved son and brother and will be sorely missed by all the family. We would ask that we are left to grieve privately at this very difficult time."

Police Scotland said that investigations into the incident are continuing and appealed for any witnesses to contact them.
