A RARE butterfly which is extinct in England is now thriving in the Scottish Highlands because of the area's micro-climate.
The Chequered Skipper only appears in the UK within a 30-mile radius of Fort William. The warm, damp summers and mild winters allow the caterpillar's main food source to flourish.
