Strictly Come Dancing is to receive a special Bafta award to recognise its decade of technical achievements.

The show, presented by Bruce Forsyth and Tess Daly, will be celebrated at the British Academy Television Craft Awards next month and will honour the BBC1 celebrity dance programme's "outstanding creative and technical teamwork".

Andrew Newman, who chairs Bafta's television committee, said the show had set "new standards for talent and creativity both here in the UK and around the world".

He said the technical team "really have raised the bar for studio entertainment across the globe".

The award will be presented at a ceremony at The Brewery in central London on April 27.
