SCOTTISH student explorer Cameron Mackay is preparing to swap textbooks for mountain boots for his next adventure.
The 18-year-old Glasgow Unversity undergraduate, who recently completed Land Rover's Next Generation Explorer programme overseen by Sir Ranulph Fiennes is hoping to join a team that will study the changing landscape and culture in the Arctic.
Mr Mackay, from St Andrews, Fife, has previously been on an expedition in the Himalayas with the British Exploring Society, is raising funds for the trip with a sponsored solo 75 mile hike from the east to west coast of Scotland, passing through the traditional lands of the Mackay Clan.
He said: "I am so excited to have the chance to show people the importance of our world's wild areas with my upcoming expedition.
"I really hope that through the donations given to this coast-to-coast walk, the public can become actively involved in the communication of Greenland360 to promote real change in environmental conservation."
Cameron has previously been on an expedition in the Himalayas with the British Exploring Society. He recently trained with Ranulph Fiennes in Megéve, France.
Mr Mackay hopes to make a film that documents the landscape character of Mackay Country as he passes through.
