A driver has died in a three-car crash.

The accident happened on the A71 road between Polbeth and West Calder, West Lothian, at around 9.10pm yesterday.

Three vehicles were involved and the 41-year-old driver of a Silver Vauxhall Vectra died at the scene, police said.

The road was closed for six hours while officers investigated the scene and they are appealing for any witnesses.

Sergeant Scott Sneddon said: "I wish to appeal to any person who was at or near the location at the time of the collision and who may have information that could assist us with our inquiries to contact the police as soon as possible on 101 or through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
