HeraldScotland today introduces a new voice to our online coverage of the indyref campaign, cult Scottish novelist Douglas Lindsay.
His weekly column, The Shackleton Report, will appear every Monday, featuring a range of characters, some of whom you'll immediately recognise...others, less so.

Lindsay's novel, The Long Midnight of Barney Thomson, was serialised on HeraldScotland last year and is now being made into a film, directed by and starring Robert Carlyle. Other actors tipped to appear in the movie include Emma Thompson, Ray Winstone, Ewan Bremner and, according to some reports, Ewan McGregor.
Lindsay's distinctive input complements our popular weekly political diary, Impolitic, penned by Andy Bollen.
They're both easily found in our Politics section and we hope they've added a new dimension to the debate.
But we're also fully committed to bringing you all the latest news from both camps, and the best writing from The Herald and Sunday Herald, with columns from such names as Iain Macwhirter, Ian Bell, David Torrance, and political editor Magnus Gardham.
