A DRUGS trafficker who used anti-surveillance techniques before fleeing to Spain as police closed in on him has been ordered to hand over £215,000.

David McKenzie, 44, was jailed for six years and eight months last year after he arrived in Belfast.

McKenzie, formerly of Barony Drive, Glasgow, had admitted being concerned in the supply of the Class A drug cocaine.

His counsel, Mark Moir, yesterday told Lord Glennie at the High Court in Edinburgh that a settlement of £214,523 had been reached in the proceeds of crime action.

Jailing McKenzie at the High Court in Glasgow, Lord Matthews said the drugs recovered by police had the potential to realise £920,000.
