DR Aileen Keel has been appointed as acting Chief Medical Officer to replace Sir Harry Burns, who is moving to a post at Strathclyde University.
Dr Keel has held the post of Deputy Chief Medical Officer since 1999 and is also an honorary consultant in haematology at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary and chairman of the Scottish Cancer Task Force.
