THE story of the Glasgow-based independent record label which went on to be at the forefront of the indie music revolution will be told in a new book.
Postcard Records was set up by Alan Horne and Edwyn Collins and in just two years it went on to launch Collins's band Orange Juice as well as The Go-Betweens and Aztec Camera.
The pair behind the label generated interest in Orange Juice's first release by handing the single out to journalists on the streets of London.
The full story of the project will be the basis of Simply Thrilled: The Preposterous Story Of Postcard Records, a book by Simon Goddard which will be published later this month.
Bruce Findlay, former Simple Minds manager, said: "Postcard was a stepping stone for bands. The Postcard legend was even bigger than the label itself - probably because they had great publicity. They shouted the loudest and they were the trendiest of the labels."
