A MOTHER claims an airline abandoned her 12-year-old daughter at an airport and of losing her passport.

Alice Papiransky booked for Jordan to travel with Flybe from Aberdeen to Exeter to spend time with family over Easter. She arranged for airline staff to accompany her daughter on to the plane and help her off at the other end.

Ms Papiransky said they were advised that the plane would stop in Manchester but told that there would be no change of plane.

But Jordan was told when she arrived there she would have to board another flight to get to her destination. Ms Papiransky said her daughter eventually managed to get to the gate but was in tears because she had been abandoned by airline staff.

She said Jordan was not allowed on the plane because a member of staff had mixed up her paperwork with another child booked on the previous flight. She is "appalled" at the treatment of her daughter and has lodged an official complaint.

She wrote to the airline: "To my horror I received a text message from my daughter when she landed in Manchester which alerted me that something was wrong. When I called her she was very distraught, upset and sobbing uncontrollably." She added a member of staff had merely given the child "instructions and directions on how to catch her flight to Exeter" and left her abandoned to find her own way to departure gate. She added: "This was an extremely frightening experience for my daughter." Flybe said it is investigating the incident.
