TRIBUTES have been paid to a music school teacher who was killed when he was knocked off his bike.

Piano teacher Grant Gourlay was out cycling in Angus when he was hit by a van.

Emergency services raced to the A926 between Maryton and Kirriemuir at around 10am on Wednesday, but Mr Gourlay died at the scene.

The 48-year-old ran Grant Gourlay's Music School.

His cousin Stephen Gourlay, 49, a builder based in Burnley, said: "He was a marvellous cousin, well loved. He's going to be missed."

Mr Gourlay was involved with Dundee Roadrunners and amateur dramatics club Blairgowrie Players.

Graham Reid, president of the Blairgowne Players, said: "Grant was a really great guy and very helpful.

"He was one of these people who would do anything for you."

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said inquiries were being made into a serious traffic collision at the A926 Padanaram to Maryton road.
