SCOTLAND is expected to enjoy the best weather in the UK for the rest of the Easter weekend, after temperatures reached around 17C in Glasgow and parts of the Highlands yesterday afternoon, hotter than in most of England.

The warm weather is predicted to continue north of the Border today, with forecasts of sunshine across much of the country. However, it could be more of a washout elsewhere in the UK, with rain expected to spread from the southeast of England across central areas and Wales.

MeteoGroup forecaster Chris Burton said: "It will stay dry and fine on Sunday across Scotland, Northern Ireland, northern England and the far north of Wales. But it's going downhill across southern areas of the country.

"Scotland is getting the best of the weather for the rest of the Bank Holiday weekend."
