Yemen officials reported yesterday that 37 al Qaeda fighters were killed in heavy clashes between the army and militants in the southern Shabwa province.
The state news agency Saba quoted a military source as saying those killed in the fighting included Saudis, Afghans, Somalis, Chechens and other nationalities.
