Football minnows Albion Rovers are offering one of the best bargains on offer from a senior football club in the British Isles - a season ticket for £10.

Fans of the Coatbridge-based club, which attracts only around 300 spectators per game, are being invited to pay what they can afford in an attempt to boost attendances and help refurbish the club's Cliftonhill ground.

It means the minimum price for 2014/15 season passes, which went on sale yesterday, is just £10 to cover administration costs.

Celtic fans are currently being asked to fork out £509 for a season ticket for the main stand at Celtic Park.

Rovers' move follows the success of a pilot in January when cash-strapped fans were invited to pay only what they saw fit for a game against Montrose. Brentford and Mansfield Town have boosted attendances with similar schemes. Rovers chairman John Devlin said it was a "fantastic offer" adding: "Obviously we're hoping people pay a bit more than £10 but we're grateful for any donations provided to us."

The website said that tickets have been "selling fast".
