NEW restrictions on strike action in essential services would be introduced by the Conservatives if they won the 2015 General Election, David Cameron has made clear.

The Prime Minister said he intended to introduce a minimum threshold on the number of employees who must take part in a ballot on industrial action before it could trigger a strike; no figure was given.

He revealed he had been held back from introducing such a threshold since taking office in 2010 because of opposition from his Liberal Democrat Coalition partners.
