CONSUMERS no longer believe price freezes are the answer to high energy bills, with more than two-thirds saying they are just tactical measures, a poll has found.

Of consumers asked, 57% said freezes kept prices high, while 54% said the offer of a price freeze had no impact on their view of an energy company, according to the survey for website ThisIsTheBigDeal.com.

More than two-thirds (69%) doubted suppliers' motives, 65% did not trust them to deliver on a deal and 61% said a price freeze would not encourage them to switch.
