THE Scottish Welfare Reform committee is asking for evidence from people who have experience of a new disability benefit.

The committee is to scrutinise the shift from Disability Living Allowance (DLA) to Personal Independence Payments (PIP).

New claimants have had access to PIP since June last year, while existing claimants in some parts of Scotland have been transferred from the old benefit since October.

Under the 'Your Say' campaign, the committee is looking for personal experiences to set against the formal evidence given by witnesses such as the contractor Salus, which is responsible for the process in much of the country.

Committee Convener Michael McMahon MSP said: "We want to hear from those going through the system as well, to hear from them how they think it has been working."
