A body has been discovered on a beach in the Inner Hebrides.

The body of a 60-year-old man was found on the Isle of Ulva at around 8am today.

Police Scotland said: "At 8am this morning we were contacted by Stornoway coastguard following an incident on the Isle of Ulva.

"With the assistance of the coastguard the body of a 60-year-old man was recovered from the shoreline.

"A post-mortem will be carried in due course, however the death is not being treated as suspicious.

"Relatives are aware and a report will be submitted to the fiscal."
