Tributes have been paid to a grandmother who died following a two-vehicle crash on a busy dual carriageway.

Elizabeth Herd, 71, died after the Ford Ka she was driving and a red curtain-sided lorry collided on the A92 in Fife.

The crash happened near the Lochgelly junction at about 10.25am yesterday.

In a statement released by Police Scotland, a spokesman for Ms Herd's family said: "She was a loving mother, grandmother and friend who will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her."

Road policing officers are appealing for witnesses to the crash to come forward.

Sergeant Andy Mather said: "The A92 was particularly busy in both directions on Saturday morning.

"Although several witnesses have already approached my officers and provided statements, there may be many more who could also hold vital evidence which can assist our enquiry.

"We are appealing to those persons to get in touch with Police Scotland by calling 101, so we can progress our investigation into this tragic collision."
