THE SCOTS star of Sir Cameron Mackintosh's West End production of Les Miserables is to take part in a concert in aid of sufferers of the incurable auto-immune disease lupus.

Edinburgh-born Jeff Leyton, who starred in the Jean Valjean role in Les Miserables, returns from his home in Tenerife to take part in the Butterfly and the Wolf 2 concert on Sunday.

It has been inspired by long-time former Edinburgh Playhouse Theatre marketing manager Sarah Heney, who was diagnosed as having systemic lupus

Ms Heney and Mr Leyton became friends 22 years ago when the singer appeared at the theatre during the first national tour of Les Miserables.

On Sunday he is joining ten other singers and the 12-piece band The Wolf Pack to appear in the concert spanning musicals, classical and jazz, being staged at Greyfriars Kirk, Edinburgh.

Two of the singers have appeared with Jeff in Les Miserables — Edinburgh-born singer Morag Siller and Fife singer Susie Dumbreck.

Mr Leyton said: "I am thrilled to be returning to my home town and delighted to be helping the charity Lupus UK.

"I am looking forward to seeing my friends and many Les Miserables fans at this very special show."
