CONCERNS have been raised about the "London-centric approach" taken by some organisations promoting UK companies overseas.

Former Labour minister Brian Wilson, now the chairman of Harris Tweed Hebrides, said in a report for the Scotland Office that a "conscious adjustment of mindset on the part of UK trade promoters" was needed to provide more help to Scottish firms looking to sell goods and services internationally.

He also raised "concerns about the London-centric approach to their overseas marketing by UKTI (UK Trade International) and other bodies".
