TWO young women robbed a pensioner of £2000 after he left a bank.
John McCort was thrown against a wall in Calder Street, Govanhill, Glasgow, during the daylight attack.
The 74-year-old was so shocked he did not report the mugging to police for several days.
Mr McCort had withdrawn the money to lend to a relative who had just bought a new house.
He said: "I was walking down Victoria Road and this girl approached me holding a pound coin.
"She kept saying 'change'. She was about 20 years old and had an Eastern European accent.
"While I was looking in my pocket another girl, about 24, came up with a 10p piece and asked for two 5p pieces.
"I started walking away and turned down Calder Street, but they followed me.
"I could hear them behind me, so I turned around and told them to beat it. The next thing they shoved me against the wall and were going through my pockets."
Mr McCort said: He said: "It was over in seconds. I checked my pockets and the money was gone. I was shattered. I went home and sat for about three hours with my head in my hands.
"I knew I'd never see the money again. I didn't even think it was worth reporting it to the police."
A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said: "Our Community Investigation Unit is continuing inquiries following a report of a robbery of a 74-year-old man near to Calder Street. Anyone with information is asked to contact us on 101."
