A SUPPORT service to help vulnerable young people called CY4You is being officially launched today by relationships and sexual health charity Caledonia Youth.

The charity was recently forced to close a sexual health clinic in the city after it had operated for 46 years, after Edinburgh City Council withdrew funding.

However, chief executive Hawys Kilday said new funding arrangements would allow the charity to work individually with young people under 25 who are given the opportunity to attend up to ten one hour sessions with a CY4You worker.

"We focus on a young person's ability to cope with the transition into adulthood, aiming to improve resilience, reduce risk taking behaviour and enhance personal and family relationships," she said. "We also support those at risk of sexual ill health, sexual abuse and exploitation."

Ms Kilday added that the new service was part of a strategy by Caledonia Youth to expand its provision of preventative services across Scotland.
