INDIAN dance troupe Lok Chhanda took to the stage yesterday to rehearse for their two slots at the Glasgow Mela which will be held at the refurbished bandstand in Kelvingrove Park.

The Delhi-based dancers, Ansua Majumdar, Ritushri Choudhry, and Rakesh Saibabu, will be among the first to perform at the venue following its £2.2 million revamp.

The Mela - the country's biggest multi-cultural festival - features musicians and dancers from across the globe tomorrow and Sunday and is expected to draw crowds of around 35,000.
