From beach bags to cushions, sun loungers to sarongs, Scottish fashion designer Jonathan Saunders is bringing a touch of Caledonian style to the Caribbean.

The Glasgow School of Art trained designer, who has dressed high profile women such as Beyonce, has created a colourful poolside area along with a selection of co-ordinating garments for Thomson's five star Sensatori Resort in Jamaica.

The Amber pool area in the resort, which is located on Negril's Seven Mile Beach on the west coast of Jamaica, features Mr Saunders signature colourful designs including bright blue and yellow covers for sun loungers and matching parasols. The beach apparel, which will be given away to guests for a limited period of time, includes graphic printed sarongs in an array of bright colours. There is also a collection of vibrant patterned beach bags which was inspired by a Jonathan Saunders dress worn by the Duchess of Cambridge on the Jubilee Tour.

Mr Saunders, who originally studied both furniture and product design before switching to fashion, said the project had excited him from the beginning.

He said: "What I was really excited about is firstly Thomson had a really strong vision about a direction they wanted to take for this luxury resort, and also the fact that it was in Jamaica and the specific atmosphere and the feeling you get when you go there - it's such a cool place.

"I studied product design prior to being a fashion designer. I changed course half way through. I also did an HND in furniture design and making at Cardonald College. I've always jumped at the opportunity to work on something that involved furniture and interiors. That's definitely something I want to do with the business in the future."

A limited number of Mr Saunders specially designed products will also be available to purchase in selected Thomson stores across the UK. Mr Saunders said: "Everything is teamwork. I have a brilliant team and everyone is on board."
