A WOMAN has lost a battle to have a legal decision authorising her eviction from an eight-bedroom house in an upmarket Scots suburb overturned.

Joan Hoblyn wanted judges at the Court of Session to withdraw an earlier decision which allowed Barclay's bank to throw her out of a property in Clarkston, Glasgow.

Last year Court of Session judge Lord Drummond Young expressed "great sympathy" for her plight. But he said he couldn't allow the eviction to not go ahead.

The judge's admission came after hearing a case in which lawyers acting for Joan Hoblyn had described the circumstances surrounding her eviction.

She was facing homelessness because the house is owned by her former husband, Michael, who was declared bankrupt following their divorce in 2004.

Mr Hoblyn fell behind with payments on his mortgage payments to Barclays, prompting the financial institution to try and re-possess the property in 2010.
